Quilt Back and "Block No. 1 of our "Little Pigs" quilt is that bluff command of Mr. Big Bad Wolf that made the piggies talk right back to him.  The blocks may be crayoned and outlined in running stitches; they may be embroidered in mostly outine stitch or bits of applique may be added.  All blocks cut nine inches square, and the designs as they appear here may be transferred directly from this paper, through a sheet of carbon paper, onto your material."  Ruby Short McKim

Pattern History

From McKim’s original pattern:  “Block No. 1 of our “Little Pigs” quilt is that bluff command of Mr Big Bad Wolf that made the piggies talk right back to him.  The blocks may be crayoned and outlined in running stitches; they may be embroidered in mostly outline stitch or bits of appliqué may be added.

A blue “O” and blue outline stitch for the other letters and a brown door made the original color scheme.  All blocks cut nine inches square, and the designs as they appear here may be transferred directly from this paper onto your material.

You will need to buy one and one-third yards of best quality unbleached or ecru, and one-half yard of flesh pink for the six pig and house blocks, and the four borders corners, and a piece of unbleached or darker tan 9 by 18 inches for the big wolf block."
